Can a non-resident form and own an Irish company?

Yes. Every Irish company must appoint a company secretary and maintain a registered office address in the State. Where a company has a single director, the secretary must be a different person. We can act as your company secretary and provide a registered office; both are quoted on request.

What is a Section 137 non-resident director bond?

If an Irish company has no EEA-resident director, a Section 137 bond satisfies the requirement instead. The total fee is €1,957.50 including VAT, it runs for two years and is non-refundable, and it insures the company for €25,000 against certain Companies Act and Revenue penalties. Appointing an EEA-resident director removes the need for a bond.
